Community Radio Fund of Canada Inc.

On Monday, November 26, 2007, the NCRA/ANREC, ARC du Canada, and ARCQ sealed the envelope containing the application to incorporate the Community Radio Fund of Canada Inc. / Le fonds canadien de la radio communautaire inc.

This is a milestone step for the associations and the fund. Work began among the associations in November 2004 following the CRTC hearings regarding satellite radio applications. In November 2005, the three associations formed an official implementation committee to consolidate their efforts.

And in December 2006, the CRTC recognized “a community radio fund” as an official eligible recipient for benefits from commercial broadcasters.

While awaiting approval from Industry Canada, the associations are already preparing for a board and membership recruitment drive. We may also have some good news to announce about the first funders. More details will be available in the coming months.

For more information or to review a copy of relevant documentation such as the by-laws, please contact the NCRA/ANREC.
