2007-2 Guidelines to all licensees of broadcasting undertakings serving the province of Manitoba concerning the Manitoba provincial election that will take place on 22 May 2007.
On 20 April 2007, a provincial election was announced in Manitoba. The election will take place on 22 May 2007.
The Commission reminds licensees that the “black-out” period for partisan political programs, including election campaign advertising, was removed from the Broadcasting Act in 1991. However, licensees should note that this pertains to the “black-out” period under the Broadcasting Act only and that applicable electoral laws may vary from one province or territory to another with respect to campaign advertising or other matters. Licensees are advised to seek appropriate advice relating to matters of provincial or territorial jurisdiction.

The licensee proposes using a Subsidiary Communications Multiplex Operations (SCMO) channel to broadcast predominantly Korean-language programming. Programming broadcast using an SCMO is not accessible with standard radio equipment, and requires the use of a special receiver.
