Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-37

2007-37 Harmony Broadcasting Corporation, Winnipeg, Manitoba. CJWV-FM Winnipeg – Issuance of mandatory orders, as noted in the decision.

In this decision, the Commission issues mandatory orders directing the licensee to comply at all times with the requirements set out in sections 2.2(8), 8 and 9 of the Radio Regulations, 1986 (the Regulations), regarding the broadcast of Canadian music, the submission of logger tapes and other information, and to comply with the conditions of CJWV-FM’s licence concerning the broadcast of news, music drawn from Category 3, and formal educational programming.

In addition, the Commission requires the licensee to, within 60 days of the publication of this decision, file reports related to the licensee’s plans to ensure future compliance with the Regulations and with the Commission’s policies, as well as compliance with the station’s conditions of licence, and to file other documentation related to the operation of CJWV-FM. The licensee is also required to file further documentation on an annual basis.

Application by Aboriginal Voices Radio Inc. relating to the licence of radio programming undertaking CKAV-FM Toronto, Ontario.

The licensee proposes using a Subsidiary Communications Multiplex Operations (SCMO) channel to broadcast predominantly Tamil-language programming.

Programming broadcast using an SCMO is not accessible with standard radio equipment, and requires the use of a special receiver.

L’Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada inc.

2007-6 L’Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada inc., Across Canada. The Commission revokes the broadcasting licence issued to Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada inc. for the above-mentioned undertaking.

The licensee indicated that it ceased to broadcast its radio programs by satellite and that the member stations of l’ARC du Canada now have access to its programs via the Internet. L’ARC du Canada also stated that its programs are pre-recorded and are made available to member stations for broadcast when they so desire. For these reasons, l’ARC du Canada considers that it no longer needs to hold a broadcasting licence for a radio programming network undertaking.
