Application No. 2007-1238-2

Application by Aboriginal Multi-Media Society of Alberta (AMMSA) for a licence to operate an English and Native-languages FM Type B Native radio programming undertaking in Edmonton.

The Application also covers 36 repeater transmitters.

The Commission notes that all of the above listed transmitters are presently in operation with the exception of the undertakings at Edmonton and at Fort McMurray which are new undertakings.

AMMSA filed this application in light of the fact that the operation of these transmitters no longer meets the exemption criteria set out in Exemption Order respecting cetain Native radio undertakings, Public Notice CRTC 1998-62, 9 July 1998.

Therefore, AMMSA needs to obtain a broadcasting licence to operate the new proposed station in Edmonton, with a new FM transmitter at Fort McMurray, and to persue the operation of the remaining FM transmitters.

Sidney E. Dolson

2008-24 Sidney E. Dolson
Muncey, Ontario
DENIED – Broadcasting licence to operate a predominantly English-language, low-power Type B Native FM radio programming undertaking in Muncey, Ontario.

“In his application, Sidney E. Dolson indicated that the proposed station would be owned and operated solely by himself. Furthermore, the applicant did not indicate that a board of directors and officers would be established once the licence was granted. Therefore, the Commission has determined that the applicant is ineligible to hold a licence to operate a Type B Native radio undertaking.”

“Further, with respect to the station’s programming plans, the Commission notes that the applicant provided very little details and remained vague in his responses to the Commission’s queries.”
