Hearing Loss Resources on the Web
A Listing for Community Broadcasters

Compiled by Barry Rueger rueger@community-media.com

This list was compiled from information received from participants in the acoustic-ecology Soundscape list and from the hs-canada Occupational Health and Safety list. It's not exhaustive, but it should answer most questions about high sound levels and hearing damage. I've arranged them from least to most technical.

It's Your Health A Health Canada site that looks at hearing loss

WISE EARS! A U.S. campaign to prevent noise-induced hearing loss.

Hearnet An industry oriented American site which has many resources - a good starting point.

The Fletcher/Munson "equal loudness" curves. They're based on data collected by Bell Labs in the 1930's, and describe how our hearing balances loudness and frequency response.
