About Us

Community-media.com is run by Victoria Fenner and Barry Rueger. We believe in Participatory Media, especially Community Radio, and have spent much of our lives producing radio programs, managing radio stations, and offering training and advice to community broadcasters in Canada and abroad. Over the years we have come to believe that the most important part of any radio project is the people who are involved, and that radio can be a creative and artistic medium, not just a vehicle for music and information.

We have also developed a keen understanding of the challenges faced by small organizations of all kinds, and our services can assist many groups.

Organizational and Technical Consulting services are coordinated by Barry Rueger. He has a broad range of knowledge and experience gained during years as a radio station manager, producer, technician, and workshop leader. As well as conducting many workshops for community radio workers, he produced the 1996 National Campus and Community Radio Conference, managed both CKCU Radio in Ottawa and WMMT Radio in Whitesburg Kentucky. While in Kentucky he developed a number of health related radio projects in partnership with the University of Kentucky, and created our "Station Building" workshop for community broadcasters.

Barry also is in charge of Community-Media.com's web design and maintenance services.
